Humour and faith.
Alice recently turned 78. With her health issues and the challenges life has thrown at her, she said, “If I didn’t have my humour and my faith, I would be stark raving mad at this point. It is not an easy road. But there’s no sense wallowing.
Alice found her way to ProResp a few years ago and has never looked back. “I liked how they presented themselves to me,” she told us. “They were very kind and understanding and patient, which was a refreshing change. I love the girls in the office. And in fact, one of the managers lives across the street from my apartment. One time, in bad weather, when I needed some oxygen supplies, she made the delivery. I thought wow, that’s really nice. That’s the sign of a company that really cares.”
Alice has had many careers over the years, from television to health care, so she has seen it all. And there is something in the way ProResp cares for its patients that has struck a chord.
“When I was living in Hamilton I was a nursing assistant in palliative care and I learned the value of true empathy. I also worked at interval house in Kingston, and I have been a victim of abuse, so I know what it is like from both sides. And with ProResp, I’ve just been really pleased with the service and the people. They are so kind and empathetic. It is not like it is just a job. I can feel that they really care. A lot of people today have that bully mindset. They think everyone is out to get them, so they adopt that mindset. They take the easy road. Being good to each other is not an easy road. But we need to be kind to one another. We are all on this planet together.”
Well said, Alice. Thank you for the inspiring example that you set.
